Try more of a humming voice instead for a better long term effect. I'm practicing this technique now where you hum through your nose while starting a word, especially one you know you're going to block on. Since continuous humming is much like singing, you are constantly phonating and preventing forced closure. It sounds a bit unnatural at first, but once you get good at it (condition yourself to do it) the hum can become silent or only imaginary.
