It is not distasteful to be accepting of that fact you are a person that stutters. As a speech therapist, and person that stutters, I have overcome a severe fluency impairment and am now mildly disfluent with no real hinderances on my life. It’s okay to to stutter: stuttering seems to bother traditionally fluent people more than a disfluent person would view their own speech. If you want to improve your fluency, get serious about therapy and join a support group. You will reach the point of acceptance. Less is always more when approaching treatment interventions. And also, I find ‘fixing your stutter’ to be a negative way to view yourself. There is nothing wrong with stuttering.
