I agree that stuttering can be a gift in disguise. I used to see my stutter as curse. But after an extremely bad few months, I did a lot of soul-searching and realized that many good things have also happened in my life because of my stutter. I cannot hide my stutter very well, but usually I manage to get my point across. If someone has enough patience to let me finish my sentences during a conversation, I've realized that person usually has other good qualities as well. This skill of judging someone's character has allowed me to find good friends and acquaintances. Also, the ability to really listen and empathize with someone has made me a good listener. I feel my friends are more comfortable opening up with me. My stutter is still a big struggle, esp. at work, and with strangers. But I've made my peace with it, and learnt to live with it.
