My ex and I would occasionally go through the drive-thru at McDonalds, she was always quite scared to order so I would always have to order (plus I was always driving anyway). I have stuttered my whole life. She would just grab my leg/arm and squeeze or rub it while I ordered, I would usually have at least 1 big block. Sometimes she would also softly encourage me by simply saying "you've got it" and "good job" once I was done ordering. It obviously didn't make it easier, but it really helped to calm me down in those moments, and I always turned to her smiling because it made me feel better. I think it felt nice in the moment, but also assured me that she didn't feel negatively towards me for stuttering, and I still felt like a strong partner despite stuttering. I stutter much less now, she probably didn't cure it but definitely helped.
