My Dad had a severe stutter but he just kept talking everybody's ear off. As a teen with a moderate stutter I felt embarrassed for him as I tried to hide mine by never talking. Now that I'm older I can appreciate how he never let it get in the way of making friends. I'm talking more now and letting go of my shame from it. I have three siblings that have never had any speech problems. I have two sons and niether one if them stutters but my youngest had speech therapy for some other speech difficulties.
