The importance of mindset and confidence I’d say I have a moderate stutter , some days it can go either way. But one thing I’ve realized is being conscious about how you’re feeling and thinking is pretty important, especially in “higher stress” situations. I’ve realize that when I go into things squared away , I tend to do “better” overall. I think one of the most important things I’ve learned, especially in speech therapy, is trying to damper the “panic” aspect of situations is key. For example stuttering without panic, really isn’t that bad for both parties. Saying “Hey can I get a hamburger” or “hey ccccaan I get a hambuurgerr” , both get the same message across and the latter takes maybe a few seconds more. Also the way you react towards it is key , if you laugh off any excessive “mishaps” or whatever , other people will be less serious, as opposed to putting your head down and making everything tense. I work in a pretty high stress career , but I did land my dream job and not only that I do well in what I Do. Yes some days I stutter more or less , but everyone has their “downfalls” . I’ll some times skim this sub occasionally and it’s the most depressing thing ever, yes it can be very hard some days , I’ve had my fair share but it’s important to work on it.
