The first step of overcoming your stutter is to be aware that it is something that you can overcome. I’ve been stuttering for as long as I can remember. There were indeed times that I wanted to give up and let it consume me but man I don’t wanna be some silent secluded hermit beta male my whole life. I stutter, but it’s not something I’ll let consume me. The reason why we have this subreddit is for this exact purpose: it’s a stepping stone towards fluency. There are people here who you can talk to, can give you tips… people you can practice with, people who share the same struggle as you. Don’t let your stutter consume you man. You don’t wanna be like that your whole life. You gotta make stuttering your bitch. A good first step is a book called Self Therapy for the Stutterer. It’s an amazing book that’s helping me go through daily life (and is also giving me courage to go to law school).
