So I’m a family nurse practitioner so not exactly but very similar to your role. At first I feel they are concern for the first 2 minutes or so. Once they realize I am Actually listening to them and not talking over they love me. As you have learned; getting a good history will tell you 90% of what the problem is without a exam. The medical terms will become easier over them as you begin to have your own “scripts” in your head about topics to tell patients. I have a chf talk, diabetes talk, and cirrhosis talk. Think of your blocks and when your trying to find another word as a learning time. You can figure out new simple and easily understandable ways to explains things to patient.
