Whats worked in my case (may not work in yours) I've been a stutterer since I was 10. Been to all the therapists, tried all the tricks, and I'm happy to say that it doesn't play a major role in my life anymore, but it still comes up every now and then. Mine is mostly due to anxiety. I recently noticed a recurrence that made my stuttter almost always go away. And its when I simply let people know that I have a stutter. I know it sounds silly, but once the burden of knowing that I won't see a horrified face if I feel a stutter coming is lifted, I'm suddenly relieved of all pressure. This likely only works if your stutter is a result of anxiety. I also talk really fast and let my words overwhelm my thoughts. It lefts a huge burden off of my shoulders, especially when I'm meeting someone new. Funnily enough, I have never stuttered with any of my therapists, and they always questioned if my stutter was ever real or not. Anyhow, if you're meeting someone new, it might help to gently let them know that you have a bit of a stutter. That way they'll know to expect it, and you have nothing to worry about SHOULD you stutter.
