Yeah there's plenty a time I've considered been mute would of been easier, the embrassment of stuttering is something I've never overcome.. I only speak now when I really have to, if I do try to join in with anything I end up stuttering and looking a complete fool, and I spend next few hours just wishing I kept my mouth shut.. it's just more stress than it's worth, and like you, I have two children and it's such a relief they don't have this curse to hinder their lives
