Is it 'okay' to check the disability option in the job application?

Is it 'okay' to check the disability option in the job application? Hi, I stutter since childhood, I came to the USA 2 years ago and recently completed my master's degree. I am applying for internships now. Every job application has a voluntary disability form at the end. Do you all check that? Is stuttering considered a disability in the USA? In university, I contacted disability services and they helped me a lot and gave me a waiver for one of my presentations, but that was only for university. Now in the outside world, is it wrong or unethical to consider stuttering a disability? I have documents of visiting a speech therapist and a 14-day therapy session I attended (Though a 2 min phone call is enough to determine) I understand that the USA supports equal opportunity and all employers ensure the law is being implemented. Presuming I am fit for a role and crack my interview, is there a chance for me for getting selected for client/customer-facing job roles where communication skills are a top priority? Is it better to discuss this with the recruiter/interviewer or will that hamper my chances? Can anyone guide me through this? Any suggestions/information/guidance/help is welcome. Thanks in advance.
