It might have influenced me a little bit, but I wouldn't say it was the primary reason. I just find medicine interesting, and I have a personality where I really enjoy taking care of other people. Stuttering may have made me more empathetic, which would factor into that decision. As for my interview, I didn't even need to bring it up because I made it very clear in my original application (it was the subject of my personal statement essay). I felt it was better to be honest about it from the start than to get all the way to the interview stage and meet people who would think I had duped them. I ended up only getting an interview from one school, so the jury's out on whether that was a good decision or not (I highly doubt it was the only factor anyway), but hey, I still got into med school, and I felt better knowing that they believed in me enough to accept me regardless of my stutter.
