This phrase makes my blood boil. But then I try to calm myself and realize it’s further proof that there are different types of stutter, and that most people are completely uninformed about what a “stuttering problem” truly is. Fluent speakers will have occasional repetitions when unsure, nervous, (or whenever!). Most people think of stuttering as just that, but more often . Obviously, the repetitions are just the tip of the iceberg ask yourself honestly, how can they possibly know what it’s like for us? I just discovered that my 13 year old sweet kitty has gone totally blind. I have no CLUE what it’s like to be blind, or be a blind cat. Before I realized she went blind, was she annoyed at me that I moved her food? Maybe, but I hope she’d understand that I had no clue what she was goin through and I didn’t do it to make her sweet little kitty life harder. It’s NOT up to us to educate people because they are dumb and mean. It’s up to is to educate people because it will ultimately *make us more fluent*, and because they have no way of knowing what it’s like for us. Yes. Disclosing is the main key to more fluency.
