The fact that you view talking to others as a high stress activity, plays a significant role in why you stutter. Talking is not technically supposed to be stress inducing, because humans are a social species. It's supposed to be relaxing, like talking to a friend while having a drink and connecting with them. If its stress inducing, then why do so many people love doing it? Stutterers like us get stressed out during talking because we fear stuttering. It's a vicious cycle where you first start to stutter, and then get criticized for it, and that makes you fear it more, and that itself makes the stutter worse.
