Sadly, Avoiding it will always make it worse. I always feel ashamed of myself for stuttering at work but the people I talk to 99% of the time just stand there and wait for me to finish and don't react badly to it at all. Sometimes I get so frustrated that I just say "uugh you know what I'm gonna say" and they'll say "yes I do" and continue the conversation like it's nothing while I'm there completely exhausted from trying to string a sentence together. I was quiet for the first 5 months at my job but I just started to talk to one new person at a time properly and now I talk to everyone without even thinking about "what if I stutter" but that's also because I've built up that trust with the people there.
