Khalid Hosseini- “...she left the certainty of turmoil, for the turmoil of uncertainty.” - A Thousand Splendid Suns. I think it’s hard for people to understand how debilitating extremely fluctuating fluency can be. You never have a chance to build coping skills or acceptance. You never have a chance to practice and inculcate tools. Because as soon as you start to face it, it disappears and you are fluent again until something in the universe changes. Then you start again, from ZERO. It’s frustrating and exhausting and you live in constant fear of starting to struggle again with something as basic as speech. The worst is that people don’t know and when you start to stutter they are confused and even worried. It’s a lot. In other words I feel you, and I’m so sorry you are going through this.
