Had a similar experience me and my girlfriend of 4 years now, when we first got together I would beat myself up every time I stuttered, thinking I sounded like an idiot, and I never thought to tell her about my stutter because I just didn’t want to tell her about it. Then when I did decide to tell her, she never noticed it and how she didn’t care before she really didn’t after I told her and she asked me a lot of questions about it because she was genuinely intrigued. I think it’s because us as stutterers beat ourselves up so much about our stutter, when it’s not as bad as we perceive it as being.
