I resonate with your perspective. Working in finance was exhausting and mentally taxing. I started out on the phones taking inbound calls as a broker. It was incredibly challenging to meet “acceptable”metrics in relation to my peers. The more I spoke, the longer the call simply because I stutter and words are hard 😂. If I talk less to speed up the call, my firm would instruct me to ask more questions and try and sell shit. Got more licenses and went to an internal phone role, that was worse. Got more licenceses to move into a compliance role BUT had to gain experience in RIA relationship management. I really sucked at that. Finally found my dream job in portfolio operation’s at a massive RIA. But this one advisor HATED that my preferred firm of communication was chat and email. Always gave me a hard time. One day he lost it and blew up my phone until I answered. Told me to stop sending him instructions via chat because he doesn’t use it and that his emails are for client communication. Asked why I couldn’t just call him and walk him through it like the other members of my team. Told me to get it together and hung up the phone… No one gave a rats ass because he just brought over his entire book to the firm and they couldn’t loose him. I was fired 2 weeks later without cause and lost all my licensees in the interim. Series 7,63,9,10 and no firm will hire me because I can’t provide a reason for my termination. But, who cares? “Stuttering ain’t that bad”
