Firefighter/EMT for 12 years. We interact with people on a regular, have to speak on radio, which the entire dept can listen to, phone calls, etc. I have a moderate stutter. My fluency fluctuates from better to worse on days. You have to have thick skin to survive in a firehouse. I've heard every joke in the book. I also know how to give it back. Nowadays, I rarely get ridiculed for it.
