In my experience, most people actually feel uncomfortable talking about it. They do realize that something is "wrong" but asking: "Hey, do you stutter or what?" is something they think it might not be polite to say, they don't know how you (or any other PWS) feel about it. Even when you do come out it can be awkward for them (and you), but some of them will relate because everybody has "something". When I like someone, I usually like to keep my cards open. I like to just say that I stutter, and I feel more comfortable then. Ofc, I can't explain that to everyone individually like, to every random person who I meet in my every-day activities, but to the people that I'm with on every day basis - I can, and I like to do so. Of course, you don't have to do the same if don't want, that's just me, but if you do want, maybe you could start with someone who you trust the most, like some very good friend and then to others, one by one. At some point, it should become easier. Sorry for the long comment :) Wish you good luck!
