The way I see it is that stuttering is highly related to the relationship we have with our ego. Our name is basically the title of our ego, so anytime you go to say it, it is very shocking to your nervous system if you have a high amount of intense negative or positive thoughts about yourself that you aren’t comfortable with. You need to unravel your identity and learn to sit with it, change it, relax it, etc. And most importantly express yourself continuously, using your most difficult words so that pent up energy can flow out. Then you won’t get such a surge of energy coming up whenever you say your name. Hope that helps. “Redefining Stuttering” by John Harrison has helped me so much.
