I’m sorry this happened to you, it sucks. When I was at school, we got a new English teacher who didn’t know about my stutter. This was at a time where my anxiety around my stutter was really bad. I had just gone back to speech therapy after a 6 year break. I would dread going to classes out of fear I’d have to answer a question or read something out loud. This new teacher called on me to read out the work I wrote and my stomach dropped. I didn’t want to embarrass myself in front of the whole class or get upset in front of them so I laughed it off saying ‘do I have to haha’. She ended up getting annoyed at me and told me I have to read my work. She told me I was backchatting her and threatened me with a detention. I was a very well behaved student at school and had good grades so teachers rarely told me off. After the lesson I did actually go up to her desk and explained everything. I said that having to read out loud can make me physically sick from the anxiety. She did actually apologise to me and said she won’t call on me to read again which was nice. It still put a bad feeling about her in my head.
