Unfortunate truth is there aren't many SLPs who understand stuttering and how to help, even the ones with a specialization in it. But I will say that finding one who does can absolutely make a real difference so if you're current therapy doesn't make sense to you or you don't feel it is beneficial, I would encourage not to give up on therapy but seek another therapist/therapeutic approach. I would personally recommend something that doesn't center around fluency/stuttering less. You don't want to stutter less, you want to say everything you want to ay and reduce your fear+shame and not let stuttering dictate your life. All of that can be worked on without any regard to fluency.
