If it’s my family and close friends, it doesn’t bother me if the joke is aimed at me. I know they love me no matter if I stutter. The only time it bugs me is when they make fun of stuttering to others in front of me. People outside of that, when they realize I stutter, it pisses me off and I say something. I’ve been mocked several times at drive-thru restaurants so I demanded to talk to the manager and they took care of the situation. I had a bad incident at a McDonald’s once and the girl was fired on the spot. It’s stuff like that which causes me to feel more self-conscious. I personally don’t take it lightly.
