I think my stuttering is characterized as moderate to severe. I'm in engineering and manage a team of other engineers. I find the more specialized job has worked well for me, as I built my expertise the people I worked with vouched for me and helped significantly as references for promotions and interviewing elsewhere. Speaking is difficult for me, especially when addressing the whole team or talking with management. But I think my dedication and competence has helped me earn respect and makes others more willing to take the time and listen to what I say. Going to hybrid work has also been helpful, I communicate with a mix of messages, video calls and voice calls for most of my work.
