This is completely something that I would have liked personally growing up: teach them that practicing isn't embarrassing or shameful. I had to practice whatever technique at home, and honestly most of them helped, but doing the practice was, and still is, the most agonizing thing. It's embarrassing and annoying to do. I hated having to read things aloud because I knew I could just read it normally way faster. I don't know how I would have preferred it, but I guess that's your job to find out how your students will like to practice at home. When I was in therapy though, phrasing was my technique of choice.
