I get what you mean, I haven't had it happen face to face but I've had it happen during work in a call centre with kids doing shit prank calls. Even the other operator has laughed a little at my stutter and its so humiliating. You just need to keep at it, it's hard but I believe it has slowly and painfully improved my speech. Maybe don't try and help with kids though, fuck them.
