It definitely helped me come out and stutter more freely. I work in a school and have a few fluency kids, which is cool because I can relate on another level with them. I still am avoidant but am much more cognizant of those situations and try to face them directly. Grad school wasn’t bad for me. I’ll point out though that I have a moderate to mild stutter and can be covert given the right conditions.
