Congrats on the new position - bravo! I understand where you are coming from on the introducing yourself part, it sucks, i know :( During your on-boarding, will you have a trainer or someone who you will be working with closely? I ask because they could be the one introducing you to people. If you are comfortable letting them know that you stutter and would appreciate if they introduced you, i'm sure that would help ease your nerves. & that inevitable joke, oh isn't it glorious!? I have gotten it way too many times, and although I do agree with you, it does sting a little, we just gotta laugh w/ it and move on. Sometimes, when people do make a joke about it, i do tell them, "yeah-yeah, i have a stutter thing.." Honestly, at times, that's the best thing to do. Try to lighten the space and move forward. I hope this helps. I come from the world of HR, so I know exactly how you feel.. Let us know how your first week went! xx
