Depends on the severity. I don't know if most people have moderate stutters or something, but sometimes I can barely get a word out in my native language. And you can't find companionship if you can't really communicate at all. That's the foundation of a good relationship. I'm not saying it's impossible, but it's definitely more difficult if you can't talk at all. I've been straight up ridiculed by members of the opposite sex when I started speaking in my native language, people that I know for a fact were interested in me before that. It is what it is. And it sucks, but a lot of people just won't take you seriously if you stutter severely. I've been flat out ignored a good amount of times, and not just in instances like this. I can kinda get why too, depending on the setting. Conversation is a fluid thing. Taking a a minute to say a word kills it for everyone. That works against you. I stutter much less in English. But I don't live in an English speaking country, so it's moot. When I have been abroad, I've been told I just sound nervous or anxious. But that's doable at least, unlike not talking at all. So in summary, in my opinion at least, it depends on the severity of your stutter. Not all stutters are equal.
