My progress! I’m really proud of myself. Hopefully this will help you Desensitising myself from the situations that I feared for so many years has helped me so much. For so long, I used to avoid making phone calls, especially at work as I used to block quite badly on the company name. I never used the drive-through at restaurants as I was scared to stutter, I’d never order at a restaurant. So many different things! I started speech therapy earlier this year and learned to change my mindset, I am in control of my body and my stammer, and I have the power over it, not the other way around. I have also learnt about diaphragmatic breathing, and easy onset methods which have helped no end. Through lots of practice (reading to myself, recording myself) I feel like I’ve been able to re-train my brain in so many situations and with using the easy onsets, I’ve managed to get myself to a point where blocks are minimal now and my secondary behaviours such as facial tics have reduced by at least 95%. I’m proud of myself for the effort I have put into the therapy and I am so pleased to see the results.
