Give it a shot - it was probably the single-best thing for my speaking confidence I've done outside of speech therapy. It's a club full of supportive, helpful people. My employer at the time had a group in-house and it took me a year to go to my first session and then another year to have the courage to go back and join. After a year in the club and progressing towards my designations, I was confident enough to participate in the annual improv speech competition - the Sargent-at-Arms escorts you into a room of 20+ people and then the Chair announces to everyone your name and the topic of your speech (you can't prepare at all - I was given just the vague title "Made in Canada") and you have the time it takes you to walk up to the podium to craft and then deliver your speech. Happily I finished third (certainly not last). Just a couple of years beforehand, I would get my wife to speak for me when ordering fast food.
