As you know, stuttering can be difficult to deal with. What we don't know is why some people are able to cope more easily while others struggle. We also don't know enough about how the severity of stuttering varies across different situations. At the Spartan Stuttering Lab at Michigan State University, Drs. J. Scott Yaruss and Seth Tichenor are seeking to answer these and other important questions about stuttering. You may have helped us in the past by completing some of our other surveys, and we are grateful for the information that you have shared with us. Your input has led to the publication of 3 new research papers that have furthered our understanding of the experience of stuttering. If you would like copies of these papers, please direct message this reddit account. Today, we are asking you to ask you to consider taking two new surveys. The first examines emotional regulation and stuttering; the second examines stuttering severity. We are also continuing to gather data for several other studies on the experience of stuttering and the characteristics of people who stutter. If you haven’t taken these surveys yet, please consider doing so by clicking on the links below. These surveys will close in the coming months. Awareness, Suicidal Thoughts and Ideation, Severity #1 (what does it mean to people who stutter?), Perfectionistic Tendencies If you are not sure about which of our surveys you have already taken, just drop us an email:Surveys@StutteringCenter.org. We know that these are turbulent times, as we all learn to cope with COVID-19, and we hope that you and your families are safe. We will soon be starting another study examining the effects of social isolation on people who stutter, so stay tuned for more stuttering research. We are grateful to you for taking your time to help us learn more about your experiences with stuttering. Your responses will lead to improvements in both research and treatment. Thank you, J.
