Masking your stuttering is highly UNRECOMMENDED in Avoidance Behaviour Therapy which is included in speech therapy for stuttering, because masking your stuttering indicates you are afraid of exposing stuttering, which will have the following detriments imo: [1.You](https://1.You) gotta spend your time and effort on choosing wordings which may make you talk weirdly and uneloquently. [2.Yo](https://2.You)ur fears of stuttering tend to make your stuttering worse which is backed up by study, and your hiding stuttering will validate your fears which will allow you to have fears of stuttering continuously next time when you are speaking. [3.You](https://3.You) don't realize, or have realized that stuttering is incurable but you try to mask it forever, which firstly is nearly an impossible target, and it will make you pretty debilitated, or even crazy. 4.Personally speaking I will not hide my stuttering because if the other side can't accept my stuttering, then he/she does not deserve your time so just ignore him/her. Using stuttering as a filter for those who don't deserve your time will not be a bad choice. 5.Hiding your stuttering means you have yet to know what to do for your stuttering. Self-analysis is the first step before getting speech therapy if you want to imo, not only because you tend to know better yourself than therapists so that your analysis of the components of stuttering(namely, how much mental/neurological it is, and if it is largely mental, cognitive therapy is more worthwhile than speech techniques, and if it is largely neurological, then it is the opposite) tend to be more accurate, but also because it can be used to judge if the therapists you seek for are worthwhile of your money, time and effort if they do something that signifies they don't know about your stuttering.(I also post my own method of analyzing my own stuttering before, and hope that can help you a lot!: [https://www.reddit.com/r/Stutter/comments/x4okf7/weird\_altruism\_thoughtadvice\_from\_a\_man\_who\_has/](https://www.reddit.com/r/Stutter/comments/x4okf7/weird_altruism_thoughtadvice_from_a_man_who_has/))
