I Conquered My Fear

I Conquered My Fear Last week, I went to a tech convention to promote my business. I didn't have a vendor booth but I had swag to hand out and I needed to figure out a way to talk to people. A friend suggested that I find a table in the hallway where all the programming sessions were since my business is about teaching programming, I would find the most interest there. I found a table in the corner and caught some people as they were moving from session to session. It was a moderate success but I still had a ton of swag left to hand out. An event staffer came over and asked what I was doing and I thought he was going to kick me out for not having a vendor license. Instead, he moved me into the middle of the hallway so no one would miss me! When the next session ended, I was swarmed by people! I gave my pitch sometimes to 20 people at a time! It was so loud in there and everything happened so fast, I couldn't hear myself think. By the end of it, I had handed out all of the swag and a bunch of business cards to people interested in partnering with me! I still can't believe all of that happened. At the beginning of the week, I was so terrified that I couldn't put on lipstick because my hands were shaking so bad (I'm a woman). By the end of the week, I left with my head held high. I can't wait for what's next!
