Need an advice Hi everyone! I am male, 28 yo. I began having speech issues at the age of 3, when my grandma was trying to wean me off my left-handedness, this is when I started to stutter. My mother noticed that and luckily she was having a book of Dr. Spock, where there was some information about linkage of hands and brain and all that stuff. So grandma stopped trying her attempts to turn me into 'proper' right-handed boy (it was common practice in the countries of former USSR), and everything went almost fine, stutter frequency decreased. Then at the age of 5 I was attacked by the dog, Moscow Watchdog breed. It bit me a bit, hehe, but the main point is that it frightened the life out of me. Then in my age between 7 and 14 my father was having drinking problems and of course I was worried about this (too much shite happened that time). At the age of 15 I began deliberately keeping silence on the school lessons, and at uni as well, I was afraid that everybody will laugh at my speech. However I got my bachelor degree in Translation Studies and now I am 5 year experience Technical Translator (it was my dream since grade 5). I do not have any problems with interpretation for 100-200 people, I am good with routine Public Address announcements for refinery activities. But when it comes to real emergency and activation of sound alarm I literally can't say any words. Same for emergency response drills, I feel like I cannot breathe and those speech hesitations drive me mad. Thanks for your time.
