Hey, I did a group presentation over Zoom the other week and I will share with you some tips that helped me be more confident with stuttering. \- You said your teachers laughed at you when you mentioned it. I don't think they understand stuttering is a neurological disorder. Email them in advance explaining that your stutter is a speech disorder you struggle with on a daily basis and ask them for their understanding if they hear it during the presentation. You can say that you don't stutter out of nervousness but is simply a part of your speech. You could have a parent/older sibling to write the email so the teacher takes it more seriously. \- Are there specific letters or words you really struggle with saying? Scan through your speech and see if there are any tricky words, and swap them out for a word that's easier to say. \- If you do stutter, that's okay! Do not apologise for it!! Just say 'excuse me, I have a stutter so if i could have a few seconds to pause' then move on. Most likely no one even noticed. \- Do you experience blocks? That is pausing or hesitating before saying a word. Say you can't say 'Often....'. You can change it to "Now, often...' but pronouncing it like 'Nowoften...' merging the words together so you prevent yourself from pausing. This was very effective for me. GOOD LUCK for your presentation! You can either let your stutter bring you down or lift you up. Even if you think you didn't speak well, it's just another hiccup in life. Every experience is good and will build your speaking skills!!
