I'm a programmer, for the same reasons many with a stutter choose that route. Who knows what my career would have looked like without my stutter, maybe better or worse, at least programming pays well. I started my own company after a while, which forced me to talk more to clients and partners. My stutter has gone from medium/severe to mild since then (10 years) I also hired employees, and the only thing i cared about was their programming skills. Yes it's important not to be an asshole that's hard to work with, other than that its your skills that matter.
