okay. first of all you must understand what causes you to stutter, I am sure you do not have an answer to this so I will explain it the best I can There are some people who have a speech disorder, these people can physically not form a word without stuttering (or can not form a word at all) However, this is not your case since you are perfectly fine because you can talk out loud perfectly fine when it's just you. Let's say you pre-plan saying something to someone like "Hello my name is ..." When you try to form these words and say it out loud your brain does this: Think about what to say Say it out loud to someone These 2, require brain to work and use it's resources. there is no place here for anxiety, but your stuttering adds 1 more task. -What if I stutter? this is a habit that develops of the years. Your brain unconsciously thinks about stuttering. this is a normal response to fear (fear of being judged) If you are afraid of something or anxious of something you ask yourself questions and start to overthink. Your brain now has to handle another task which drains it's resources. There is a limited amount of resources the brain can use on forming a speech. If you waste it on anxiety/fear then the brain will not have enough resources to perform a speech which makes the brain stutter. Just like in video games, if your computer does not have enough RAM, then the game starts to lag a.k.a stutter. Remember that it's all in your brain and everything is fine with you, you just have to take control over your brain. Here is what you should practice: all your life you have been trying to fight stuttering, which is why it is getting more intense and not leaving you alone. Instead you must accept stuttering, when talking to someone you SHOULD expect stuttering and you should be okay with stuttering, you should take your time and stutter all you want. How does this help? Your brain develops a reaction to this: "Oh so it's okay to stutter?" and suddenly your brain no longer has to think about -What if I Stutter? this question leads to so many un-answered questions, so if you are able to completely cut it out, you will be able to speak fluently. Just go ahead and talk to someone, stutter all you want and be okay with it. Once you accept stuttering, it will disappear. Trust me life will become so much more peaceful knowing you can talk whenever you want to. I also used to stutter and I used this exact same thing, I talked when I knew I would stutter and my brain accepted the fact that I just stuttered until eventually the habit was broken. Just accept stuttering and it will fade away. You got this, just be yourself.😎🍻
