I really don't know. Supposedly there's a difference in the blood flow of stutterers in the Warnike’s region, one of two adjacent frontal brain structures. Warnike’s region is pronounced with a V. as it's German. I have no idea if or how an implant might work, but as a stutterer for 65 years ( fully recovered at age 70) I have learned that stuttering has many diverse causes both physical and emotional. Some physical causes can be brain trauma, developmental delays, physical diseases, (a link has been made between Tourette's syndrome and stuttering), and even viruses in young children, and even genetics The psychological causes are even more varied from emotional abuse, neglect, over-criticalness of the child when speech begins, and emotional trauma, etc. The good news is that there is current research into medication to treat stuttering. A study is currently being undertaken at NIH.gov., USA. If you'd like to know more Youtube: Dr.Gerald Maguire. Google him too: Dr.Gerald Maguire, MD. There is a new Facebook group Treatment for ‘Stuttering Support Group’ whose admin is a patient of Dr. Maguire and is now 98% fluent. Please check out all resources. There is hope even through regular speech therapy to provide tools to make speaking easier. Keep trying. Remember there are many stutterers who have found social and career success. Good luck, Sue
