The thing is I never admitted to anyone that I stutter, the only people I admitted to are my parents and my partner. Took my parents years and years to accept me having a speech problem and give up fixing me by shouting “stop stuttering”. I think the reason I do so is because I don’t want people to know to me as having a condition and lesser-abled. Since not everyone understands stuttering, and I don’t want people to assume things. I think I just hold myself to a higher standard, not wanting others to give me a easier time after knowing my condition.
