Tim sounds like a great resource! I looked him up and saw he has the BCS-F credential, which means "board-certified specialist in fluency." That's a very challenging clinical designation to reach...so he'd be a great place to start for help. Thanks for sharing his name so I can follow along, too! As you pointed out, SLPs learn about a very broad range of topics during our Master's programs. So it's important to find an SLP who is passionate and knowledgeable about stuttering if you're looking for therapy. Sorry to hear about your laryngitis! When you talk (or whisper), your 2 vocal folds (aka vocal cords) come together and vibrate. So, people often think that they're "not using their voice" by whispering, but they actually are and sometimes it can be even more harsh than normal voice use because they're pushing to whisper loudly enough that others can hear. My best advice is to completely rest your voice as much as possible if you're experiencing hoarseness! Staying hydrated is also your voicebox's best friend. :) If you're not prone to reflux symptoms, lemon is probably fine. But try to get decaf tea so you don't get dried out. Hope that helps!
