This usally happens to me when I have to answer «no» to a stranger asking me something. It happened just now at the gym when a girl asked me «are you using this?», and I proceeded to stutter 3-4 seconds just trying to say NO. I looked her somewhat in the eyes, and I saw her rapidly changing between trying to smile and being frightened or shocked. And ofcourse I pick up on that, making it even worse.
