Stutter got really bad out of nowhere and for the first time in my life its getting into my head Hello everyone, I am a very extroverted person and I have never let my stutter get in the way of anything, even though it can get a little bad sometimes. In my gap year before university, I even had a phone customer service job, where in 50% of calls I would just tell people that I stutter and didn't care what they thought about it (because I know that deep down... most people dont care if you stutter and will behave nicely). But 1 year after starting university; for the first time in my life, my stutter is stopping me from saying hi to people, and general interactions in my daily life. This is because it has gotten really bad :(. I dont stutter on every word, but when I stutter, it can take up to 5 seconds before I finish the word :(. My friends and teachers are really nice to me and does not comment on my stuttering, but it has gotten really into my head atm. I used to not like when people would end my sentences, but now I am almost just hoping that they will do it because I cant be arsed to finish it myself because it is so tough. I really dont know: \- 1) why my stutter got so bad all of a sudden, \- 2) why its getting into my head. Maybe its becauase im a little more introvert now than I was in highschool (im in uni now), and a little more insecure? not sure... I know that there is not that much research on this topic. So I would like to hear: * What have other people done to get back to "normal-stutter-standard" in a period where your stutter is really bad? * What are your tips for not letting it get too much into my head? I dont really mind stuttering, I just dont want it to get into my head * What are your experiences?? Plz share, would love to hear!!
