Lexapro shouldn't be an issue but if you try something new tell your psych to make sure it doesn't affect motor functions as a side effect. If you can find a speech and language pathologist (SLP) who has encountered something like this before, I would see them. Otherwise, most SLPs probably won't know how to help. You could check with your university's speech and hearing department to see if they have anyone who specializes in stuttering. Other than that, do your best to not hide from speaking. Yes it is embarrassing right now but that is because of society's current stigmas. This is not your fault and not something you can control so you should feel no more ashamed of it than a paraplegic should of not being able to walk. People are understanding, especially in college. I hope you can slowly find feel ok with your disfluencies while you get checked out. Trust me, hiding and avoiding is not the road you want to take.
