A few suggestions that have helped me though college: 1. Self-disclosure of your stutter is hugely important and will take a lot of weight and anxiety off your shoulders. I highly recommend self-disclosing when you need to give a presentation. That way, the cat’s out of the bag and you’ll feel less of a need to hide your stutter. 2. Get speech therapy if you can afford it. If you can’t, look for universities with speech language pathology programs near you that might offer speech therapy for a reduced cost or no charge at all. 3. Get counseling for your anxiety. People wrongly believe that counseling is only for people with “major mental illness”. Anxiety and depression can come along with stuttering and it’s important to have those addressed as well. If you can’t afford counseling, look for universities with counseling, social work, or psychology programs that offer counseling to the public for a reduced cost or no charge at all.
