Please please please make sure they specialize in dysfluency. If not, they are likely to have no true training in it, and will treat it as if you have an articulation disorder (like a lisp). If you have no problem w articulation, this could even make dysfluency (or emotions about it) worse. And if you are paying out of pocket, it will obviously be even more heartbreaking… I want OP to feel good about this experience as much as we all do! And I want to be realistic. Edit - if your SLP doesn’t fit the bill, do not despair. There are SLPs who specialize, who have info and services available online.
