It was kind of unclear as to why they shut down, the clinicians wouldn't really give me a straight answer, but it seemed to be a combination of lowering attendance and simply Dr. Webster getting old. He was supposed to come in a couple times during my session but never made it. Yes, they definitely look at it as a purely mechanical problem. This was something that they kind of drilled into our heads (probably to rid themselves of any liability), but the psychological element simply cannot be ignored. As I said before, he is very successful in many ways (including monetarily) and the reason he kept allowing himself to slip back into disfluency was because he knew he would always have the ability to come back. I got the impression that he was a very private individual so I don't want to give away too much, but he has held a bunch of crazy jobs, currently being a higher-up at a company overseas. It should also be mentioned that those 5 or so sessions were over the course of like 13 years.
