As a person who stutters and whose job consists mainly of talking on the phone, I can empathize and have some advice: Make those calls and talk. If you happen to stutter on the call, accept it. Stutter your request, your complaint, whatever the call is about. People don't care that you stutter. For them, it's just one call in 100 calls they had that day...100 calls of people complaining, blaming, angry, cussing, happy, sad, nice, mean. Nobody will remember your call the next day. Also, letting the person know that you stutter helps relieve the tension on both sides.
