One great takeaway from Lee G Lovett's book on stuttering is to overwrite "stutter memories" with "fluent memories". It's simply, "Listen to yourself speaking fluently" --> "Feel confident that you are speaking fluently with minimal or no stuttering" --> "Start to speak fluently on your own" --> "Listen to yourself speaking fluently" And the cycle continues. This is a positive feedback cycle. How do you start the cycle? Start reading slowly. I've been doing this for 4 months and the progress is significant. I was able to secure an internship even though the interview went bad because of my stuttering 3 months ago. I started working on the positive feedback cycle after that interview and I was able to give my final internship presentation with 80% fluency. I still stutter but I'm confident enough that I can initiate conversations and hold them. I read random articles out loud for 1hr each day very very very slowly. I feel really good after that. And I keep repeating it daily.
